The melting pot ethos of the U.S. has helped create some fantastic regional culinary delights. No matter where you visit, there’s bound to be a famous regional dish. Here are 12 cities to visit to taste the best of America.

Some would argue NYC is the foodie capital of the U.S. New York is famous for lot of different foods. However, there is one dish that gets mouths watering at its mere mention: New York cheesecake. Some of the richest cheesecake around, you can never go wrong with a slice of this heavenly treat.
2) Anchorage Salmon

In Anchorage, you can look forward to fantastic Alaskan salmon dishes. With a variety of wild species to choose from, you’re guaranteed a great meal (or two or three).
3) Philadelphia Cheese Steak

Home of the Philly cheese steak. Place thinly sliced steak and melted cheese on a roll and you have the basic Philly cheese steak. The pride of the City of Brotherly Love, several restaurants claim to make the best cheesesteaks.
4) Miami Key Lime Pie

Home to an amazingly vibrant Cuban community, you would think that would be the cuisine to pick. However, we’re leaning more towards dessert this time. Specifically, the delicious and refreshing Key Lime Pie. This pie has been designated the Sunshine State’s official state pie.
5) Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

Home of the deep dish pizza. This thick pizza will not only make your mouth water, but probably bust a few buttons if you eat too much. When in the Windy City, you might get different opinions on who makes the best deep dish. Why not try them all?
6) San Francisco Wines

No good meal should be without a glass (or two) of wine and vineyards in areas surrounding San Francisco like Napa and Sonoma produce some of the best American wines on the market. Visitors would be well served by partaking in a wine tasting (or two).

Prepare to have your taste buds blown off as you try some of San Antonio’s famous chilli con carne. You will have no problem finding a hearty bowl of this famous dish. Your level of bravery will determine how spicy you like it.

Crab dishes ahoy! Looking for some amazing crab cuisine? Then head to Baltimore. Plucked from the Chesapeake Bay, the blue crabs cook up beautifully. If you can think of a way to cook something, there is probably a crab dish done that style.

Get your day jumping with a great cup of locally brewed coffee. Seattle wears the crown as coffee king of the U.S. From small coffee shops whipping up their own caffeinated treats to being home to a very famous chain of coffee shops, Seattle is a coffee lover’s jittery dream.

Famous for its Mardi Gras celebrations, New Orleans also serves up scrumptious jambalaya to its hungry visitors and residents. A spicy mix of chicken or seafood with vegtables and stock-infused rice, this tasty dish has regional variations so you’ll just have to try them all to see which one you like best.

They call it Bean Town, but we’re here for one of its specialties: clam chowder. It seems every city and state has its own version of chowder, but Boston has the creamy goodness of the original.

Another southern state, another tasty dessert. Since Georgia is nicknamed the peach state, you can probably guess what we’re savoring here. When visiting Atlanta, you better try some famous peach cobbler or your taste buds will never forgive you.
